An Example of How Worse-than-Stupid, Double-Dealing Hypocrisy Reigns in American Political Affairs — Texas, Its Wild Fires, and Demagogic Air-Head Governor Rick Perry

Right now, I would be content with a reasonably competent 8-year-old as king

News from Texas synopsizes how today’s politicians deal with reality — so deliberately badly they would embarrass even a kindergarten class’s childish logic.

Texas is planning on cutting its wildfire fighting budget by about one-third, after experiencing one of the most monumental wildfire seasons it has ever had.  A land-searing natural disaster that overwhelmed the state’s firefighting resources and figuratively left people wondering if the whole place were ablaze.

And (get this) Texas is simultaneously complaining that the federal government hasn’t done enough to help it.

“What does this mean, Pete?”

Summed up, this wondrous State Jewel of the Vacuous Political Right wants to:

(i) cut state spending,

(ii) cut state taxes,

and

(iii) call on taxpayers from other states to support its irresponsible budget-style.

That’s Republican Party leadership, nationwide, in a nutshell.

I’m not picking solely on Republicans

But at least Democrats have the arguable “grace” (when assessed in such an intellectually and ethically impoverished a political climate as today’s) to be (take your pick):

(a) so disorganized and intellectually meandering that no one has a clue what they stand for

and/or

(b)aware enough to recognize that there is a place for competent government in creating a harmonious and defended society.

The moral?

Ah, brainless Reality-Avoiding Hypocrisy!

May your sweet and soul-destroying oil gum our political works so undetectably, that we sleep ourselves to economic death.

An 8-year old as king, that couldn’t really be worse — could it?
