Picture of General Electric GE wall oven model JTP30.

Some irritating characteristics

Exceptionally slow to heat, with some minor (but annoying) control issues.

Background

The oven being evaluated is two years old.  It’s located in military housing.  I’ve had three months of experience with it.

The previous family took good care of the home and everything in it.  Consequently, the oven’s shortcomings are not due to two years of abuse.

Negatives

This oven takes “forever” to heat up — fourteen minutes to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

The temperature can’t be raised or lowered once set, without turning the oven off and starting over.

The kitchen timer on it works the same way.  Once set, it can’t be adjusted, without turning it off and beginning again.

Positives

Once at operating temperature, the oven cooks reasonably well.

It looks nice.

Not recommended

This wall oven is just irritating enough not to be a particularly good choice for people who value common sense in appliance design.
