Glenn Greenwald "streams" a little seriousness — into the Golden Showers Affair

The Establishment's reaction to Donald Trump — is rich with proof of American democracy's rot

The American deep state's "Golden Showers" effort to derail President-elect Trump is a good example of putrefying American institutions.

With more patience than I displayed yesterday, investigative attorney and journalist Glenn Greenwald explains why:

In January, 1961, Dwight Eisenhower delivered his farewell address after serving two terms as U.S. president; the five-star general chose to warn Americans of this specific threat to democracy:

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”

This is the faction that is now engaged in open warfare against the duly elected and already widely disliked president-elect, Donald Trump.

They are using classic Cold War dirty tactics and the defining ingredients of what has until recently been denounced as “Fake News.”

Their most valuable instrument is the U.S. media, much of which reflexively reveres, serves, believes, and sides with hidden intelligence officials.

And Democrats, still reeling from their . . . election loss as well as a systemic collapse of their party . . . are willing . . . eager . . . to embrace any claim, cheer any tactic, align with any villain, regardless of how unsupported, tawdry and damaging those behaviors might be.

But cheering for the CIA and its shadowy allies to unilaterally subvert the U.S. election and impose its own policy dictates on the elected president is both warped and self-destructive.

Empowering the very entities that have produced the most shameful atrocities and systemic deceit over the last six decades is desperation of the worst kind.

When it comes time to expose actual Trump corruption and criminality, who is going to believe the people and institutions who have demonstrated they are willing to endorse any assertions no matter how factually baseless . . .?

Two disturbing aspects — to this episode

First of these is our variegated Federal Government's willingness to do anything, no matter how immoral, to hold onto its own — sectarian-like and self-serving — versions of rectitude.

Second, is the American public's eagerness to participate in being deluded. Ergo, Greenwald's mention of the well-populated and convulsing corpse of the Democratic Party.

Note

With regard to displays of deluded partisanship, I was a little surprised that Greenwald did not mention the illustrious Republican senator, John McCain.

McCain — who visibly despises President-elect Trump — admitted that he gave the Golden Showers Escapade a fertile boost. He delivered the (fairly obviously concocted) "Showers in Russia" file to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With instructions — we can probably safely infer — that the matter required investigation.

Senator McCain and his Fellow Travelers can reliably be counted on to support whatever, no matter how dishonestly, heads the United States toward strategically and morally unnecessary wars. As in this case, with the allegedly Trump-controlling Russian Federation.

The moral? — We are (for the most part) a chest-thumpingly brainless Ape Clan

I am not persuaded that Reason — a Homo sapiens-alien concept, despite our self-bestowed "wise man" species name — will restrain our enthusiasm for breaking bones and sucking blood, whenever the mood strikes.

Allegations of Golden Showers just adds deliciously salacious, animalistic spice to the process.

A little erotically inclined peeing now.

A little mayhem later.

What could be finer?
