Not shy, near the summit
The closest one in the above photograph was only about 15 meters away.
The pictured four — and a mother with a kid downslope behind me — stayed near the trail, despite the passage of several hikers.

The moral? — Not just about us, is it?
I have little political tolerance for people who would sell off, or unnecessarily damage, our public lands.
In a world filled with wall-to-wall human artifacts, pollution, and incessant noise — it is nice to take a jaunt through the places our genes evolved to cope with.
Like going home.
