Some media would have us believe that George Floyd Era cops — are resigning in large numbers

"Cops have started resigning en masse across the country"

That's the title of Tim Pool's — somewhat Right Wing-representative — YouTube video.

"What do you think comes next, when there's no police?"

Pool's implication being that (oh-so-victimized) police are walking away from their George Floyd Era jobs.

Thereby, leaving American society in a state of violent anarchy — that only they (bravely!) could have thwarted.

Really?

I doubt it.

In a COVID-caused recession of developing gargantuan proportion:

are cops —

who are generally unsuited to other occupations,

due to their preponderant lack of education, training and suitable experience —

really going to leave their usually livably-paying police jobs

to become

no-prospect unemployed?

I could not find significant corroborating facts to support Tim Pool's "resigning en masse" observation.

Furthermore, as a matter of logic

I suspect that police, who are generally practically minded people, would not do something remotely so self-destructive.

Other than, of course, to continue beating, gassing and rubber bulleting folks — in plain televised sight — during the very protests that were aimed to stop those unfortunate occupational tendencies of theirs.

Generalities about practical-mindedness (or anything else) are rarely absolute.

But still, mass police resignations seem unlikely.

Punting on reasonably paying employment is just not in those (allegedly put-upon) uniformed saviors' best financial interests.

The moral? — Don't believe idle threats and stupid observations

We will not get rid of militarized and frequently rights-oppressing law enforcement, as easily as reports like Pool's might have us believe.

Ignore scare tactics. Whether from the Right, Pretend Center, or the Left.

These days, it's mostly garbage in and out.
