Oh Prophet, speak to me

When ethics die, the only reservoir of light left are prophets, I once wrote.

To grasp the savage economic and emotional cost of deindustrialization, the destruction of our democratic institutions, the dark undercurrent of nihilistic violence that sees us beset with mass shootings, the attraction of opioids, the rise of the militarized state and the concentration of national wealth in a tiny cabal of corrupt bankers and corporations, it is necessary to turn to a handful of poets, writers and other artists.

These artists, who often exist on the margins of mass culture, are our unheeded prophets.

In that vein — playwright C.J. Hopkins

In a talk with journalist Matt Taibbi, Hopkins ruminated that — here in reformatted extracts:

[T]here global capitalism was [in 2016], happily destabilizing, restructuring, privatizing, and debt-enslaving the entire planet, and cleaning up little pockets of resistance to global capitalist ideology, as it had been doing since the fall of the USSR . . . .

GloboCap spends the next four years demonizing Trump as both a Russian intelligence asset and literally the Resurrection of Adolf Hitler, and everyone who voted for him . . . as “fascists,” or “white-supremacist extremists,” or just “racists.”

Russiagate fell apart in the Spring of 2019, but by that time GloboCap had already shifted to Hitlergate, and was whipping up mass hysteria over “literal fascism” . . . that was going to be carried out by Trump's underground militia of Alex-Jones-watching “white supremacists,” or whatever.

It was about reminding us who’s running things, and what happens if we start rebelling . . . and electing unauthorized ass-clown presidents instead of the corporate puppets GloboCap has carefully vetted and presented to us to obediently vote for.

The narrative culminated in 2020 with the BLM protests/riots, the “Storming of the Capitol,” etc.

Russian Hitler was vanquished.

What better way to crush a populist rebellion and remind us who is really in charge than to[:]

foment mass hysteria over a clearly non-apocalyptic virus,

impose a bunch of unnecessary, totalitarian “emergency measures,”

cancel our constitutional rights,

censor and/or demonize dissent,

and

otherwise transform societies into pathologized-totalitarian police states?

Sound reasonably accurate?

Close enough, I think.

Notice the willingness of most of the world's publics to put up with the mind-enslaving nonsense that nets us.

The moral? — Human sheep, further sheep-i-fied

Meanwhile, Julian Assange's life evaporates away in his GloboCap-welded cage.

Prophetic Rage girds itself.
