Jackassery Appears to Be Rudy Giuliani’s Strongest Suit — His Claim that President Obama Does Not Love the United States Overlooks the Obvious

The Republican Party overflows with needlessly vile people — take the inflammatory narcissist, Rudy Giuliani

Per Politico:

The former New York mayor, speaking in front of the 2016 Republican presidential contender and about 60 right-leaning business executives and conservative media types, directly challenged Obama’s patriotism, discussing what he called weak foreign policy decisions and questionable public remarks when confronting terrorists.

“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said during the dinner at the 21 Club, a former Prohibition-era speakeasy in midtown Manhattan.

“He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

Note

Lindsey Bever, writing in the Washington Post, confirms this account.

Does this mean that the President — who possesses at least twice Mayor Giuliani’s level of intelligence — is unaware that he could not have become a national leader in any other country?

Hardly likely.

Though I frequently criticize President Obama’s manipulative cynicism, his every action proves how much he loves plutocratic America.

Pretending not to see this obviousness should eliminate Mayor Giuliani from consideration for any role, including a cajoling one, that requires minimal perception and integrity.

Am I too harsh with Rudy the Cavorting Rat?

There is something soulfully repulsive about Giuliani’s overweeningly smug sense of towering self-worth.

His demeanor makes even (slyly machinating) Senator Ted Cruz and (deceptively evil) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell look good in comparison.

I could have a metaphorical beer with the latter pair and very much enjoy their company. The former mayor, however, is one of those exceedingly rare human beings, whom I would be animalistically tempted to spring over the table and chew his guts out. As a simple matter of evolved Neanderthal principle.

(Does that make me a bad person?)

The moral? — If we are going to demean each other, let us at least be accurate

Each of us carries genuine or situational flaws that can be fairly targeted.

Inventing false shortcomings gets us nowhere, as individuals or society.
