Curious reversal of propensities of character — 'liberals' versus 'conservatives' — in COVID times

Remember how 'conservatives' are supposedly motivated by fear and distrust?

And 'liberals' (we are told) by love, inclusivity and a willingness to experience 'new' things?

That all got turned upside down — during the COVID-19 pandemic

Now we have self-confessed liberals calling for legally forced vaccinations and the masking of everyone.

All that scorching air being expended, without the slightest expression of doubt about the future-proof wisdom of forcefully imposing such mandates in a supposedly 'free' country.

See, for instance, humorously:

So now . . .

It is 'liberals' who are frightened of not much of anything that could be legitimately equated to Biological Armageddon.

And 'conservatives' who are, stalwartly so — and mainly in their MAGA hats — bumbling along in a suspiciously evidence-proof container of denied (but nevertheless sufficiently visible) threat.

The moral? — Both groups are, fundamentally, thoughtlessly stupid

Which probably explains why America is the way it is.

On the other hand, there is joy to be found in occasionally sparkling bits of human genius like this one:

. . . although, even with that example of human insight and goal-striving, one does have to wonder whether most of us — being mostly ungifted, unreflective, not-so-smart and insight-lacking stooges — only provide fodder for those who are blessed with occasionally pseudo-divine sparks of illumination.

(How's that for a sentence?)
