The Washington Post is now a tabloid

Maggots gnaw Liberty's feet away

Peter van Buren's pre-election "burn it all down" characterization of our times appears to be coming true. The United States is unraveling in interesting ways. Our global adversaries must be chuckling.

Who would have thought that a Nitwit Tide would gnaw Lady Liberty's feet away?

For example

We now have one the nation's formerly prominent newspapers clearly demonstrating the end stages of demented lunacy:

The flood of “fake news” this election season got support from a sophisticated Russian propaganda campaign that created and spread misleading articles online with the goal of punishing Democrat Hillary Clinton, helping Republican Donald Trump and undermining faith in American democracy, say independent researchers who tracked the operation.

Russia’s increasingly sophisticated propaganda machinery — including thousands of botnets, teams of paid human “trolls,” and networks of websites and social-media accounts — echoed and amplified right-wing sites across the Internet as they portrayed Clinton as a criminal hiding potentially fatal health problems and preparing to hand control of the nation to a shadowy cabal of global financiers.

For evidence, the Post refers to an anonymous website called PropOrNot.

Evidently, the Post's standards for proof now amounts to giving unquestioning credence to pure fabrication.

What is even more discouraging is that the Post is implicitly endorsing the view that an astonishing array of elements among the American media are being actively or subliminally controlled by the Russian Federation.

In other words, according to the Post — "If you disagree with us, you are a traitorous pinko-commie-wannabe."

Hello Weimar!

I admit to becoming a little more concerned than I was that we are headed down the pre-Hitler Weimar Republic road.

I had not anticipated that Hillary's Crew would actively support President-elect Donald Trump's penchant for peddling fascist fantasies. Evidently, the United States now divides itself into two groups of competing lunatics.

This voluntary surrender to Unreason and Excess does not leave much room for sane behavior.

The moral? — Press values do matter in holding back chaos

Not publishing crap used to be the mark of an elite newspaper. No longer it seems.

The Washington Post's screwiness demonstrates just how rotten the Obama-Clinton Establishment (whose propaganda arm it is) was. Those bemoaning Donald Trump's election to the presidency should take a good look at their own contribution to America's ethical and economic problems.

The propagandizing Washington Post should be buried with the Maggots of Mindlessness that have consumed it. Not surprisingly, this decline occurred just after arch villain/superhero Jeff Bezos bought the paper. This should tell us something about the prominent role of blatantly unethical behavior in the operation of Kill All Capitalism.
