Trump versus McConnell — a battle between two nihilistic geniuses — how better to sum the American Experience?

Oh Lordy, let the fisticuffs begin

Mitch McConnell (Senate minority leader) threw down the gauntlet.

See here.

And former President Donald Trump picked it up:

The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political “leaders” like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm.

McConnell’s dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse.

The Democrats and Chuck Schumer play McConnell like a fiddle—they’ve never had it so good—and they want to keep it that way!

We know our America First agenda is a winner, not McConnell’s Beltway First agenda or Biden’s America Last.

Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again. He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country.

Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.

We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership.

Toddling Donny versus Evil TurtleMan

What a Marvel Comics battle this is going to be.

Imagine the daily cartoon-caricature fodder that will result.

At an earlier point . . .

Niall Staange wrote that this would be a battle for the GoP's "soul".

I understand his sentiment, but the Republican Party has not had a soul for decades.

The Grand Old Party is essentially a group of Plutocrat-sponsored thieves, looking for the next best way to steal everything that most ordinary people have.

Lest y'all think that I favor Democrats . . .

I lump them into the same pillage-oriented category.

Save that the Donkey Party pulls Machiavellian think tank "Kente cloth" coverings — woven of unending identity-fractionation — over their demonesque connivings.

In short, both American political parties are enemies of humankind.

If we forget this elemental fact, we — meaning we ordinary pond scum rabble — will certainly perish in their maws.

Which Republican barf bag will win?

I don't know. That's why the contest should be entertaining:

On the one hand, The Trumpster has a large portion of the "unwashed masses" on his side.

On the other, McConnell has the American corporatist Establishment on his.

It becomes a classic battle between:

Puppet-Populists cavorting in the streets (or Capitol)

and

behind-the-scenes Way Big Money.

Two competing skill sets

Trump regularly flashes the manipulative "tweet" and short-cutting rhetorical genius that appeals to rightfully resentful folk.

Trump's skill set puppetizes people.

And McConnell slyly maneuvers the political procedural skills that, heretofore, have shut any form of genuine American "progress" down.

McConnell's skill set marionettes institutional systems.

In short

These two men are historically legitimate Giants of Non-Worthwhile-Ness.

The moral? — As the US eagerly continues to turn itself into History's putrescent, decaying mush . . .

We may be able to amuse ourselves by watching a Trump-McConnell battle that pretty much symbolizes everything that carted America to this unhappy point.

What could be better?

A metaphor living a metaphor.

Grin and be happy.
