Today, there are 6,648 people’s photographs on the Washington Post’s Faces of the Fallen
A visit to that sorrow filled website should alert the more thoughtful among us that Memorial Day floats uneasily on a sea of blood and suffering.
More thought before starting armed conflicts would behoove the nation — if only we could persuade our political leaders that sacrifice begins with oneself and only afterward extends to inviting someone else to participate.
