Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Beelzebub — twins?

Senator Mitch McConnell —  who (six years ago) essentially admitted that he was going to obstruct President Obama at every turn for no legitimately rational reason — yesterday could not resist continuing to flaunt his Awesome Ass Stripes:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) issued a warning to Democrats on Wednesday, one day after the Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland expired without any Senate action: Don’t consider staging a similar blockade on any of President-elect Donald Trump’s high court nominees.

“I think that’s something the American people simply will not tolerate and we’ll be looking forward to receiving a Supreme Court nomination and moving forward on it,” McConnell told reporters.

In other words

It was okay for McConnell-led Republicans to shut out the Democratic president's nomination for the Supreme Court vacancy for 293 days. But it would be sacrilegious for Democrats to do the same in return.

McConnell apparently reasons that obstruction in an election year — or for the entirety of two presidential terms, when the president is African-American — is one thing.

But stalling the Supreme Court nomination process indefinitely (with Republicans now in power) is self-evidently another.

The moral? — Some people are self-glorying turds, through and through

If I were a successful Stalinist, Mitch would be first into the gulag.

I might even waterboard him there. On self-indulgent principle.

For the good of the nation, of course.
