Hypocrisy sometimes lends itself to the illuminating comic portrayals

Take Jimmy Kimmel’s version of a Pretend Jesus quoting the un-Christ-like statements that some Republican candidates have recently made:

Kimmel’s satire illustrates why I do not take prominent Republicans’ avowals of Christianity very seriously

They consistently, self-righteously and violently miss Christ’s arguably main points.

Whatever religion these people are espousing is no more core Christian than Islamic terrorists’ abhorrent version of Islam.

The moral? — It is indicative of the depleted spiritual intellect of many among the Republican group that they cannot grasp the validity of Kimmel’s implied comparison

This obtuseness may be one indicator of the spiritually “lost” — the inability to recognize one’s own grasping misguidedness.

There is an implied partial “theology” contained within this statement. Pursued, it would (or should) concern us. However, only the thoughtful will apprehend what I mean. Which, by definition, leaves out the group that arguably should most ponder their personal and professional lives’ directions.
