CDC is playing propaganda games (again) with its COVID data tracker

Today, we tackle the CDC's deceptively presented . . .

. . . COVID data tracker.

Propaganda can be subtle.

For instance, today's CDC's COVID-19 Cases & Data page is headed with a US map that is colored all red, except for orange California.

The map's legend says that the red color means that community COVID transmission is high.

Yikes.

We had better knuckle under to President Biden's vaccine mandate order.

Sieg Heil!

But wait a second

Tracking the spread of a usually much less than lethal respiratory virus might not be particularly meaningful.

Isn't it the portion of the population that is falling over dead — or lying in ICUs — the main issue?

Where is that data?

The CDC somewhat buried the more pertinent stuff

The appropriate Deaths Link is located way down the Red Alarm Map's page in a section entitled "Case, Death, & Laboratory Testing Trends by Location and Demographics".

There, we can click on a box titled, "Trends in Cases and Deaths by Race/Ethnicity, Age, and Sex".

Clicking on that, takes us to "COVID-19 Weekly Cases and Deaths per 100,000 Population by Age, Race/Ethnicity, and Sex".

And that graph shows that COVID deaths are much lower than they have been — at any time — since April 2020.

Furthermore

If you click through to the fifth of the six pages of the Death Graphs, you will see that it is the elderly (75 years plus), who are still massively leading the Croak Index. I use that colloquial term as an elderly person myself.

And the next two noticeably leading 'death groups' are also comprised of older people, 65-74 and 50-64.

Hmmm.

Don't older people (as an otherwise undifferentiated group) always have a higher risk of dying than younger folks?

(Yes.)

And where is the hospital data?

Buried under Health Care Settings (on the Red Map page).

"COVID-NET Laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations" shows that SARS-CoV-2 hospitalizations are also noticeably down since 18 April 2020.

And "New Admissions of Patients with Confirmed COVID-19" are also well down from January 2021.

However, contrasting with those two reassuring graphs . . .

. . . is "Prevalent Hospitalizations of Patients with Confirmed COVID-19".

It shows a current hospitalization peak only somewhat below the January 2021 summit.

Notice that CDC does not overtly tell us how "Prevalent Hospitalizations" differs from "COVID-NET hospitalizations" or "New Admissions".

A clue to the origin of the hospitalization data discrepancy can be found . . .

. . . under the data-conflicting "Prevalent Hospitalizations" graph.

It is sourced to "Unified Hospital Dataset, White House COVID-19 Team, Data Strategy and Execution Workgroup".

That's a propaganda clue.

Who is it, after all, who has been trying to put the nation into a hysterical tizzy?

Why did the CDC bury all these core truths — where people are unlikely to find them?

Presumably to get us all so frightened, that we will placidly roll over for President Biden's ill-advised COVID vaccine mandate.

Is burying the most pertinent CDC data a professionally ethical practice?

Are you beginning to feel manipulated?

The moral? — Getting the truth out of 'these guys' is always an unnecessarily painful process

Government, very obviously now, is not your friend.

Directly pertinent to this assessment, you should notice that two prominent, respected FDA vaccine insiders have announced their pending resignations from that agency.

Their resignations inferably are due to their professionally based distrust of both the CDC and the Biden administration's vaccine shenanigans:

Two senior leaders in the US Food and Drug Administration's vaccine review office are stepping down, even as the agency works toward high-profile decisions around Covid-19 vaccine approvals, authorizations for younger children and booster shots.

The retirements of Dr. Marion Gruber, director of the Office of Vaccines Research and Review at FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, and Dr. Philip Krause, deputy director of the office, were announced in an internal agency email sent on Tuesday and shared with CNN by the FDA.

[T]wo of the top vaccine leaders of vaccine review leaders at the FDA are stepping down.

And senior officials have told multiple reporters that it is largely in part to what is being perceived as the White House getting ahead of and putting pressure on the entity to approve not just the vaccine boosters, but also other parts of the vaccine approval process, and also shifting the focus away from the FDA, which is largely in charge of this, to the CDC and the CDC's advisory panel.

If you do not tentatively think that these two resignations are a warning bell about Mindless Politics having crushed scientific objectivity at both the CDC and the FDA — you are (arguably) a deluded optimist — and, therefore, (again arguably) part of our societal disintegration problem.
